The Third Act Portland Maine Rally will be March 21st 3:00 - 4:30PM ET in Monument Square, Portland. Third Act.org is helping to organize a nationwide day-of-action against the nation’s four biggest banks who continue to fund new fossil fuel extraction projects, deepening the climate crisis. We’re part of the fight against that! 

As a day of simultaneous protest across the nation, this event promises to be highly visible and will shine an impressive spotlight on the (mostly unknown) reality that our nation’s biggest banks are the major force in helping keep the dirty fossil fuel industry alive.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE RALLY

Outside 

We will be protesting in Monument Square with signs illustrating how the fossil fuel industry is propping up the dirty banks. There will be music, short speeches, a little play (!), and more. 

Inside 

Several Third Act Mainers will enter Bank of America, followed by Chase Bank, to request a meeting with each bank manager (for the third time). They will report back out to the assembled protesters with what they learn.

Other actions include: Art Projects, OpEds, Social Media Engagement, Letter Writing and Procuring Signatures on the Third Act.org Banking on Our Future Pledge.

There will be No Obligation to Divest, from anyone taking part in the action.

Our March 21 day of action, is essentially a “serious warning to banks” that if they do not stop funding the fossil fuel industry people are ready to divest and take their business elsewhere
